Disciplines and Rituals take time to learn. A certain amount of time must pass between buying levels of a discipline, outlined below.
In Clan Disciplines
In clan disciplines are disciplines your clan or bloodline learns innately. As such, they are the easiest to learn. You may learn them without a trainer, except in the cases of Thaumaturgy and Mortis. You do not need to inform staff if you have begun to work on an in clan discipline, but the appropriate time must pass between your current discipline purchase and your previous discipline purchase.
Level 1 - 1 week
Level 2 - 2 weeks
Level 3 - 3 weeks
Level 4 - 4 weeks
Level 5 - 5 weeks
Out of Clan Disciplines
Out of clan disciplines are not innately learned and therefore more difficult to acquire. They therefore must be taught by someone who possesses the discipline in clan. Furthermore, if you are learning a clan specific discipline (Demenation, Chimestry, Mortis, Obtennebration, Protean, Quietus, Serpentis, Thaumaturgy, Vicissitude, ect) you must ingest a trait of blood from a member of the clan, though it does not need to be your trainer's blood.
You must notify your ST and the ST corresponding with the clan's discipline you're learning. For example, if you're Toreador, and you wish to learn a Tremere discipline, you must notify DarkeST to begin to train in any out of clan discipline. The start date will be considered the date you notified us. Your trainer must confirm your purchase.
Note that you do not need a trainer to buy the first level of Celerity, Fortitude, or Potence and do not need to PM the ST to begin training the first level. However, you do need a trainer to obtain the subsequent levels, must inform the STs when you begin training for those levels.
Level 1 - 2 weeks

Rituals
Rituals may not be learned simultaneously with disciplines. You must dedicate time specifically to learning rituals. Staff must approve the ritual you are learning, so you must notify staff at the beginning of the time you wish to start learning.
